Ben oui, 13 ans… Et à l’écouter chanter tous ses chorus avec sa voix prépubère, on se dit que les Benson and Co n’ont qu’à bien se tenir…
A 5 ans, Boulou chantait tous les solos de Dizzy Gillespie. A 7, son père Matelo lui apprend à jouer de la guitare après qu’il ait écouté Dizzy Gillespie, Django et les guitaristes américains. En même temps il étudie la guitare classique et donnera son premier concert à 8 ans au Musée Guimet. A 12, il accompagne Jean Ferrat qui est tombé sous le charme. Et à 13 il enregistre une série de 45 tours pour Barclay dont cet album est issu et qui plaira beaucoup aux Etats-Unis. A tel point qu’il enregistrera l’année suivante un autre disque toujours avec les Paris All Stars.
Le moins qu’on puisse dire, c’est qu’il y a des gamins précoces.

Mondine GARCIA vient de nous quitter ce 29 décembre 2010 au matin.
C’est l’année de l’anniversaire de Django que Mondine a choisi pour poser sa guitare. Que dire de plus ! C’est tout un pan de l’histoire de cette musique qui disparaît. Si comme beaucoup d’entre nous vous avez trainé à La Chope pour venir écouter “Les Manouches”, c’est avec beaucoup de nostalgie et de tristesse que, comme nous, vous recevrez cette nouvelle.
Ninine et toute la famille Garcia proposent aux amoureux du jazz manouche de venir rendre un dernier hommage au patriarche de la Chope des puces. L’enterrement aura lieu vendredi 31 décembre 2010 à 11h30 au cimetière parisien de Saint Ouen.
Nous venons seulement d’apprendre le décès de Mondine Garcia et nous en sommes très attristés. N’habitant pas Paris notre visite à la Chope n’est pas fréquente mais nous ne manquons pas de venir y faire un tour à chacun de nos passages. Sincères condoléances à toute la famille.
Mondine va nous manquer, c’était une personne très attachante. Je me souviens qu’un jour il avait fait tomber son médiator et ne le trouvait pas. J’avais une lampe de poche dans mon sac et nous l’avons retrouvé sous le radiateur. J’espère que sa guitare trône dans la salle de la chope.
