Blues Harp Heroes is an excellent electric blues collection that dives deeply into the vaults of Cobra, Paula, Jewel, and Chief and comes up with 16 tracks from the ‘50s and ‘60s, including four unissued performances from Snooky Pryor (“Real Fine Boogie”), Sonny Boy Williamson (“Take Your Hand Out of My Pocket” and “Steady Rollin’ Man”), and George “Wild Child” Butler (“Runnin’ Drunk”). Even though a track like Junior Wells’ “When the Cat’s Gone the Mice Play” is an exact retread of his “Messin With the Kid,” it’s still unbeatable electric Chicago blues. One minor complaint: while Bill Dahl’s liner notes are informative and well written, Fuel 2000 should include recording dates and years when possible on future releases. ~ Al Campbell, Rovi

Второе прозвище – “Harmonica Boss” в комментариях, думаю, не нуждается =)) Шикарный дядька, начавший записываться в 50х, в 81-м получивший «Грэмми» и выступавший с концертами практически до своей смерти в 1993 году. Великолепный акустический блюз в традициях Роберта Джонсона и Сонни Вильямсона, в музыке которых он и черпал вдохновение. Наслаждайтесь! =))
Cristina Braga (Rio de Janeiro, 1966) is a Brazilian harpist who started her musical career as a soloist of the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira and Orquestra Sinfônica Pró-Música da Petrobrás. Since 1993, she has been the principal harpist with the Municipal Theatre Symphony Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro. Her passion for her instrument has taken her to cover both classical and popular music. Mitch’s blues harp playing is second to none for creativity, drive and excitement. And he’s also just as witty and imaginative in the role of songwriter. He’s shared the stage with some of the biggest names in blues over the years with Stevie Ray Vaughan paying him the ultimate compliment given from one musician to another: “Can I sit in?”
Moving on to a solo career recording “Crazy Mixed-Up World” in ‘99, Kashmar started making a name for himself and touring with his own band but it wasn’t until his 2005 effort “Nickels & Dimes”, featuring guitar great Junior Watson on Delta Groove Music’s label, that his stock really began to rise. A lot of times when one purchases a blues recording, the tunes are all in the same style and sound the same. This is a great CD that mixes it up a bit, with harmonica greats from Little Walter to Rod Piazza. It is a great way to sample a lot of different artists and then buy more CDs once you know who you like. I hope House of Blues puts out another collection similar to this. Very enjoyable.
