JB Notché est un jeune chanteur, guitariste, auteur, compositeur originaire de la banlieue parisienne. Sur des musiques manouches, espagnoles, blues, il chante Paris, les bars de l’ennui, la grève des cheminots, les relations de couple, l’Andalousie… Armé d’une voix puissante, d’un jeu de guitare incisif et de textes empreints d’espoir et de mélancolie, cet héritier de Brel, Ferré et Mano Solo délivre un univers chaleureux, sincère et émouvant…
JB Notché commence son aventure musicale en découvrant la guitare à 14 ans. Il écrit dans la foulée ses premières chansons et monte son premier groupe avec lequel il écume les salles de sa région.
En 2006 il décide de se lancer seul (avec sa guitare !) sur les scènes Parisiennes et en Province et sort son premier EP 5 titres, « Paris », en 2008. Il est accompagné depuis 2009 par une section rythmique inventive et expérimentée avec JB Petri, bassiste/contrebassiste et David Adrian, batteur/percussionniste qui offrent une nouvelle dimension à ses chansons.
Les concerts deviennent alors de véritables moments d’émotions, de partage et d’énergie pure…

Il remporte en 2011 le 2ème prix du Tremplin de la Chanson d’Angers : prix du Centre de la Chanson, prix Le Mans Cité Chansons, prix L’Esprit Frappeur (Lausanne).
Il est sélectionné par le Réseau Musiques 94 pour le dispositif EVOLUSONS 2011 (accompagnement scénique, intégration au réseau Itinérance du RIF (Réseau Ile-de-France des Musiques Actuelles), programmation sur le Festival EVOLUSONS…)
Le 2ème EP, « En Trio », est sorti début 2011

Back in September 2007, Freestyle Records released Black Feeling an album project brought to life by Australian musical supremo Lance Ferguson, the man responsible for Freestyle soul-jazz organ trio Cookin On 3 Burners, as well as The Bamboos & Lanu projects on Tru Thoughts Recordings. Each track was presented under a pseudonym to give the impression of an album you would find whilst digging in a Caribbean record shop or American thrift store. As a collection of reworked classics, the album set dance floors alight across the world, indeed, the single Hippy Skippy Moon Strut by The Mighty Show-Stoppers became a huge selling 12 inch, and also notched up well over 350,000 individual viewings on You Tube to date! Now in 2011, Freestyle Records is pleased as punch to be releasing this follow up album.

Hugely entertaining, fun compilation by Barcelona DJ Txarly Brown of rumba-based Spanish pop music from the 1970s, which shows that interesting fusions between anglo-American and Spanish music were already well under way in the last years of the dictatorship and certainly before the ‘nuevo flamenco’ movement. Most of these tracks were unfamiliar to me, and listening to them for the first time was quite bizarre: all the familiar aspects of anglo-american 70s rock and pop are here - psychedelic, disco, soul and funk - but the rumba, flamenco and latin elements always prevail.

Rocha (guitar) and Cardosa (woodwinds) are two talented musicians paying great homage to Brazilian traditions while performing in a contemporary jazz based style. I feel that the flute/guitar tracks are the strongest of the bunch. These gentlemen show both chops and musicality at every turn. It is a shame musicians such as these don’t get more notice in the jazz community (a community known for the existence of 5 great unknown musicians for every well known performer!). Originally issued as a limited-edition direct-to-disc LP by the long defunct Crystal Clear label in the late ‘70s, this budget reissue of Cal Tjader’s Huracбn does not list any of the musicians heard with the vibraphonist, though his band on this occasion includes brass and reeds in addition to the usual electric piano, electric bass, and congas, with most of the compositions and arrangements by Clare Fischer. Tjader, long one of the few non-Latin innovators in Latin jazz, is in top form and is able to work in the demanding direct-to-disc recording environment, which required recording an entire album side of performances without overdubs, splicing, or stopping for very long between selections. Due to its relatively low profile, this is one of Cal Tjader’s lesser-known releases, but it is well worth acquiring. AMG.

“Authentic” seldom describes Latin rhythms played by a non-Latin musician. But it has correctly applied to George Shearing’s stylings in three previous hit latin albums for Capitol, and so it does here. George’s is a sunny, danceable, now-famous brand of Latin that he applies not only to these exciting mambosb and cha-chas, but to the subtle, insinuating boleros, as well. “These boleros,” George explains, “bear no resemblance to the famed Ravel composition. The bolero rhythm we play here is the Latin ballad tempo. Latin with mild seasoning, if you like, it’s distinctly an Afro-Cuban style—as distinctly as Armando’s.” The bongo and cconga playing of Armando Peraza is indeed distinctly Afro-Cuban, and it must be described with such contradictions as “controlled” and “frenzied.” Armando has served as the percussion mainstay in each of the Shearing Latin albums to date, and joining him as important additions to the Quintet in each of these numbers are several other Latin percussionists and a flutist. The flute, by the way, adds an exciting first-time element to the Shearing sound—new scope to the Quintet’s Latin mood. And “Mood Latino” promises to add a new scope to your enjoyment of Latin music. There’s enough variation in tempo—from the smooth to the tempestuous—to satisfy any listener’s ear or dancer’s feet. There’s an even mixture od standards in Latin translation and fiery Latin originals. There’s ... but to say more would spoil the mood you’ll soon be in.
