Little Kim & the Alley Apple 3-Riding the Rails(2009)
Label Indie
Genre Gypsy Swing Jazz Country
Years 11-2009
Format Mp3 320 Kbps
Size 21.7 -97.5 Mo
Wonderful news, boys and girls. Today, a nice guy came around with the first batch of our debut album “Riding the Rails”. We’re looking at it as we speak and we’re delighted! It took us two days to record and approximately 30 hours to mix it … and it sounds just the way we hoped it would sound. Most of the songs are Little Kim originals, performed according to our old family recipe :) a nice mixture of western swing, hot club and old fashioned hot jazz and cool swing.
The album was recorded on 9th and 23rd November 2009 at the “Closed Session Studio” in Roeselare (www.closedsession.ssr.be). Trumpets and violins were recorded on 22nd December at “Studio Flip Flap” in Gent.

Thingamajig is a song out of our debut album: “Riding the Rails” (Little Kim & the Alley Apple 3).
It’s a funny little novelty song recorded by Johnnie Lee Wills and His Boys - Johnnie Lee being the brother of the legendary Bob Wills.
“Thingamajig” was written by well known songwriter Cindy Walker. “You Don’t Know Me” and “Dream Baby” are perhaps her two best known songs. The Johnny Lee version of the song was recorded on Feb. 3, 1952, at the KVOO studios, for RCA. Lead vocals by Julian “Curley” Lewis. Johnnie Lee Wills is asking the questions and singing on the trio part. Don Tolle on electric guitar, Tommy Elliott on steel guitar, Clarence Cagle on piano, Chuck Adams on bass, Waid Peeler on drums, Curley Lewis, Henry Boatman and James Guy “Cotton” Thompson on fiddle.

Gismo Graf-Absolutely Gypsy (2010)
Label : Autoproduction
Genre Gypsy wing Jazz Manouche
Date de sortie : 16 novembre 2010
Format Mp3 320 Kbps
Size 192 Mo
Second disc of the young German guitarist Gismo Graf now aged 18, always firmly surrounded (Joschi Dad on guitar accompanying (vocals on two tracks) and veteran Jankeje January on bass), continues the tradition Gismo Musik Deutscher Sinti in a directory with no great surprise: the usual standards (Them There Eyes, Limehouse blues that has perhaps a little too heard), Sweet chorus of Django, the gypsy Tchan Tchou not quite sent or as Angelo Moreno, cuckoo, little theme played in a replay or successful husband GIDL, song books. If the young Gismo has a big technique, his fingers itch a little and it crackles across in a somewhat mechanical (see China boy taken at 100 per hour). Is more convincing when it calms down a bit on Django Festival for example, pretty ballad composition, he signed two other titles more anecdotal Gismo swing pretext for an avalanche of notes and a somewhat convoluted Ninon waltz. If Tony Lakatos sax on 4 tracks and Olaf Polziehn, piano on 3 come somewhat break the monotony of the formula as a trio, We’ve Got A World That Swings, sung in English crooner how to tea dance is somewhat incongruous in the context. If Gismo has some nice flights (see the chorus on Donna Lee), his style still lacks personality. It also expects a little more originality in the tradition of this successful resumption of Destiny Roman theme with guitar-sax in unison followed by questions and answers removed. To follow all the same.

Andreas Oberg – Six String Evolution (2010)
Label: Resonance Records
Genre Jazz fusion
Date de sortie d’origine : 11 mai 2010
Durée totale: 1:03:27
Format Mp3 320 Kbps
Size 42.7-95 7 Mo
In the liner notes to Six String Evolution, Oberg states that the date features songs that fit his style - My opinion, of his style? He burns tastefully with a Bebop-singe over many genres. The material is diverse, featuring archtop, electric fusion and nylon string guitar-work on a variety of jazz and pop tunes. One of the many great things about the CD is that, even with the changes in instrumentation and style, there is a continuity of thought and vibe that make it easy to listen from beginning to end. Sadly, Oberg’s chops make me contemplate using my L-5 for firewood…He’s soooo good!
Andreas Oberg’s “Six String Evolution” CD features a host of fine players including Oberg on electric and acoustic guitars plus vocals on “Papa Gato” (penned by L.A.‘s own Poncho Sanchez). He has Darmon Meader on saxophone and vocals on “Maniac;” Filo Machado, vocals and vocal percussion; Dave Kikoski, Rhodes piano; John Patitucci, acoustic and electric basses; Decebal Badila, electric bass; Lewis Nash, drums; Charlie Bisharat, violins; Enzo Todesco, percussion; Antal Steixner, cajon; Marius Preda, cymbalom; and John Beasley, synthesizer, percussion, vibes.

Jermaine Landsberger Trio feat.Stochelo Rosenberg -Live Altes Pfandhaus Cologne Germany 2011

Size Rar

Hot Club Of Cowtown - Tall Tales (1999)
Label Hightone
Genre Gypsy Swing Country Jazz
Orig Year 1999
Release Date Aug 03, 1999
Format Mp3 320 Kbps
Size 90.8 Mo no covers
Kicking in with the instrumental bluegrass fiddle number “Draggin’ the Bow,” things get hotter when the Hot Club of Cowtown add a heap of period-style originals into their Western swing mix. There’s the Bourbon Street sound of “Emily” and “Darling You and I Are Through,” and then there are the standards like “Polka Dots and Moonbeams” and “Always and Always.” Old-timey country (“I Laugh When I Think How I Cried Over You” and “Red Hot Mama”) is yet another style in the Hot Club’s bag of successful tricks, which are authentic yet somehow absolutely fresh—and something to aspire to for the pack of neo-roots bands.
The Hot Club of Cowtown’s second album is as winning as their debut, released just a year prior. Furthermore, they’re exhibiting smart and meaningful growth. Their first original compositions are in amongst the fifteen tracks this time out. ... Full DescriptionThere’s a fine track written by fiddler and vocalist Elana Fremerman, and a couple more by guitarist/singer Whit Smith. The rest of the material deftly mixes the trio’s love of American songcraft with their passion for western swing and the 1930s and ‘40s hot jazz of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. They’ve also broadened the instrumental palette, with guest appearances on a few songs by Peter Ecklund on cornet, Joe Kerr on piano, and Marty Lester on an additional violin. The Hot Club is a tight and swinging combo that mixes amiable arrangements with prodigious instrumental skills.
Additional personnel includes: Joe Kerr (piano).

Artist: Charlie Haden & Kenny Barron
Album: Night & The City
Released: 1998
Quality: lossless (FLAC tracks) / mp3 CBR 320
Size: 281 / 185 MB
The third in a series of Charlie Haden duet projects for Verve in the 1990s finds the increasingly nostalgia-minded bass player working New York City’s Iridium jazz club with pianist Kenny Barron. Moreover, it is entirely possible that we are getting a skewed view of the gig; according to Haden, he and his co-producer wife Ruth tilted this album heavily in the direction of romantic ballads, eliminating the bebop and avant-garde numbers that the two may have also played at the club. Be that as it may, this is still a thoughtful, intensely musical, sometimes haunting set of performances, with Barron displaying a high level of lyrical sensitivity and Haden applying his massive tone sparingly. Most of the seven tracks are fantasias on well-known standards, although one of the most eloquent performances on the disc is Barron’s playing on his own “Twilight Song.” If Haden deliberately set out to create a single reflective mood, he certainly succeeded, although those coming to Haden for the first time through this and most of his other ‘90s CDs would never suspect that this man once played such a fire-breathing role in the jazz avant-garde.. ~ Richard S. Ginell
