Après le succès de son projet pour enfants “Enfantillages” , disque d’or avec plus de 50 000 exemplaires vendus, en 2010, Aldebert fête ses dix ans de carrière avec la sortie d’un album anniversaire et la création d’un nouveau spectacle qui mêle cirque et chanson.
Aldebert ne souhaitait pas marquer l’événement avec une simple compilation. Sa discographie (cinq Albums) laisse apercevoir une envie d’explorer de nombreux styles musicaux. C’est donc un album particulier qu’il nous propose, en trois phases : titres studio inédits (premier single : Les larmes de crocodile), chansons revisitées jazz-manouche (dont une inédite : La valse des maîtresses) et live enregistré lors des premières représentations du spectacle.
Dix ans de concerts qui ont commencé dans les «  caf’ conc ’ » de Besançon, la guitare en bandoulière pour arriver avec cette même énergie débordante à célébrer l’événement au zénith de Paris le 20 novembre prochain.
Pour cet anniversaire Aldebert a décidé d’inviter des artistes de cirque contemporain, sous le regard de Bernard Kudlak le directeur artistique du Cirque Plume, qui a mis en scène le spectacle et y a intégré des numéros interprétés par des artistes polyvalents
Les larmes de crocodiles, le premier single extrait de ce nouvel album, marque une évolution musicale pour cet artiste de talent, vers un univers plus pop-rock, mais où est préservée cette plume si forte qui a fait sa force.

After the success of his project for children “Childish” gold record with over 50,000 copies sold in 2010, Aldebert celebrates its ten year career with the release of an album anniversary and the creation of a new show which combines circus and song.
Aldebert did not want to mark the event with a mere compilation. His discography (five albums) lets see a desire to explore many musical styles. So it is a particular album that offers us, in three phases: unreleased studio tracks (first single: The crocodile tears), gypsy-jazz songs revisited (one novel: The King of mistresses) and recorded live at first performances of the show.
Ten years of concerts that started in the ‘caf ’ conc ‘“Besançon, sling the guitar to come up with the same boundless energy to celebrate the event at the Paris Zenith on November 20.

The tears of crocodiles, the first single from the new album marks a musical evolution for this talented artist, to a more pop-rock universe, but where is preserved so strong that this pen was his strength.

Les producteurs de l’annГ©e Django Reinhardt New York Festival ont suivi le CD superlatif tirГ©es du Festival 2002 de courir avec un DVD Г  partir de 2004 concerts au Birdland. Alors que le DVD laisse un peu Г  dГ©sirer en termes de travail de la camГ©ra et la qualitГ© de la production en gГ©nГ©ral, comme son prГ©dГ©cesseur CD met en lumiГЁre le succГЁs durable de Reinhardt, maГ®tres contemporains gardant sa flamme allumГ©e et la dose de “Le Jazz Hot que la Ville reГ§oit chaque annГ©e.
L’une des caractГ©ristiques de la fГЄte annuelle Django est le rapprochement des virtuoses des deux cГґtГ©s de l’Atlantique. La France toujours dapper Dorado Schmitt est toujours le centre de gravitГ©, chomping plate-4 rythme sur sa guitare acoustique ou tir hors des passages rapides dans le manche. A l’ouverture “Sweet Georgia Brown, une intro vertigineuse par Schmitt conduit rapidement Г  un solo de planche Г  laver rivetage par David Langlois, cГЁde la place Г  Dan Levinson solo de clarinette rapide et fluide. Mayo Hubert (guitare rythmique), Peter Beets (piano) et Brian Torff (basse, directeur musical) complГЁte la section rythmique.
En outre, comme le CD dont il dispose, le DVD de l’annГ©e 2004 du courir Г  la prГ©sence de James Carter saxophone tГ©nor d ‘sur quelques chiffres, y compris ses phrases Г  tour haletante et musclГ© sur la ballade “Crepuscule Melodie UA et son attaque a fait sur l’un des “jazz manouche” la signature numГ©ros, Reinhardt et StГ©phane Grappelli l ‘up-tempo “Minor Swing.

The producers of the annual Django Reinhardt New York Festival have followed up the superlative CD drawn from the Festival’s 2002 run with a DVD from the 2004 concerts at Birdland. While the DVD leaves a bit to be desired in terms of camera work and general production quality, like its CD predecessor it spotlights Reinhardt’s enduring appeal, contemporary masters keeping his flame alight and the dose of “Le Jazz Hot that the City receives yearly.
One of the hallmarks of the annual Django festival is its bringing together of virtuosos from both sides of the Atlantic. France’s ever-dapper Dorado Schmitt is always the center of gravity, chomping flat-4 rhythm on his acoustic guitar or firing off rapid runs across the fret board. On the opening “Sweet Georgia Brown , a breakneck intro by Schmitt soon leads to a riveting washboard solo by David Langlois, giving way to Dan Levinson ‘s fast and fluid clarinet solo. Mayo Hubert (rhythm guitar), Peter Beets (piano) and Brian Torff (bass, music director) complete the rhythm section.
Also like the CD before it, the DVD of the 2004 run benefits from the presence of James Carter ‘s tenor saxophone on a few numbers, including his alternately breathy and brawny phrases on the ballad “Melodie au Crepuscule and his pointed attack on one of the signature ‘gypsy jazz’ numbers, Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli ‘s up-tempo “Minor Swing .
Other notable tracks include “Indiana , a showcase for pianist Beets that makes nice use of a split screen between him and Schmitt to give viewers a view impossible in person and “Stompin’ at Decca , on which Schmitt shows off his chops on violin as well as guitar. Overall though the DVD does not quite capture the excitement of the live shows and undoubtedly the best thing fans can do is to catch the Festival in person.

OГ№ les guitares se mettent Г  discuter Г  se mГ©langer. Fait assez rare pour le signaler, Iris Music nous propose, pour le prix d’un CD (16,99 € Г  son lancement), 2 CD/DVD comprenant : un concert live Г  l’opГ©ra comГ©die de Montpellier accompagnГ© d’un DVD en trois chapitres d’un total d’1h30. 30 minutes sont consacrГ©es Г  six titres du concert, mais on y trouve Г©galement un film de 6 minutes oГ№ les deux acolytes parlent de leur guitare, et un reportage de 50 minutes sur leurs histoires et celle de leur rencontre. Une belle initiative Г  souligner. De plus les morceaux jouГ©s ne sont pas les redites des CD enregistrГ©s. On retrouve huit morceaux inГ©dits en duo.
Pour ce qui est de la musique, l’entente est parfaite. Les questions-réponses fonctionnent à merveille. Un vrai jeu d’improvisation, de questions réponses entre deux styles différents mais complémentaires. Ils prennent également le temps de s’écouter et ne se lance pas sur des tempi survoltés. Ce qui laisse le temps d’entendre le phrasé et la personnalité de ces deux musiciens d’exceptions.

 

 

Romane and Stochelo. Two styles, two schools. An unlikely pair that works wonderfully. After the success of “elegance” and “double game”, it would have been a shame not to present it in concert. Where the music takes on its value. Where the guitars start to discuss to mix. Actually quite rare for the report, Iris Music offers us for the price of a CD (16.99 € at launch), 2 CD / DVD includes: a live concert at the Opera de Montpellier comedy with a DVD three chapters of a total of 1:30. 30 minutes are spent six titles of the concert, but there is also a 6-minute film where the two friends talk about their guitar, and a 50-minute documentary on their story and that of their meeting. A great initiative to underline. Moreover, the songs played are not repetitions of recorded CDs. There are eight new songs in duet.
Regarding music, the agreement is perfect. Questions and answers work wonders. A real game improvisation, questions and answers between two different but complementary styles. They also take time to listen and do not start on supercharged tempos. This leaves time to hear the phrasing and the personality of these two outstanding musicians.

For lovers of Romane there are no big surprises in the choice of pieces they are taken from the CD and Shadow Samois sur Seine. For others it is a good way to make his acquaintance.
But the bonus is that this edition is dedicated to guitarists, since it provides the play-back, screens and records solo all tracks ...
An initiative is customary Romane including statements of Odd and waltzes. Again it helps to make this music accessible to as many musicians. Bravo!

Pour les amateurs de Romane il n’y a pas de grandes surprises au niveau du choix des morceaux puisqu’ils sont repris des CD Ombre et Samois sur Seine. Pour les autres, c’est une bonne façon de faire sa connaissance.
Mais le bonus vient du fait que cette Г©dition est dГ©diГ©e aux guitaristes, puisqu’elle offre les play-back, grilles et relevГ©s des solos de tous les morceaux…
Une initiative dont Romane est coutumié avec notamment les relevés d’Impairs et valses. Encore une fois il contribue à rendre cette musique accessible au plus grand nombre des musiciens. Bravo !

Sur le CD 2 on trouve un dossier pour chacun des morceaux comportant les play-back, grilles et relevés en tablatures et partitions. Les relevés sont disponibles en 2 formats, Jpeg et pdf. Le seul regret, il faut bien trouver quelque chose, c’est que toutes les pages au format pdf ne soient pas dans un même fichier.

Amsterdam, July 27th 2007. The concert that has been waited for at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, took place to rapturous applause, and was the outstanding Gypsy jazz music event of the year in Holland. Jimmy was in absolutely top form, and played both archtop and acoustic guitars to a level of beauty and technical skill that will not be matched by any guitar player in the world presently. He is finding new things within his music, and the power of his re-creation is beginning to emerge, with rhythmic and dynamic changes already happening.

He added Marc Meader on snare drum and brushes, to his lineup for the event, and with Nomy his brother playing rhythm guitar, Arnoud van den Berg on bass, Jimmy showed that he has moved into the style of Django ReinhardtпїЅпїЅs post war performances. JimmyпїЅпїЅs electric guitar playing was glittering with new ideas, and renewed confidence. He now plays like a man driven by new and creative energy, which drags the audience to the front of their seats, and takes them on a roller coaster of music, through swoops and curves in the most exciting journey of the imagination. Jimmy charms the audience like a magician, and makes every note mean something important to every listener.

The concert at the Bimhuis was expected to be a sell out, and lived up its promise, with no seats spare, and all crowding around the podium, or sitting impatiently in anticipation. The Basily Boys came along to show how the Basily name and musical culture is still one of the great voices in Gypsy jazz music. The boys played a short set to open the proceedings. Robin Nolan did a set to thunderous applause, and proved to all the audience, that he is the only non Gypsy guitarist to command the respect of being a brother to them. The Basily Boys, to everyones delight came back at the close, to jam on stage to the tune of Joseph, Joseph. The finale was a ten musician lineup, which included the great violinist Tucsi Basily, and Robin Nolan, on electric acoustic guitar.
