Highway Companion is the third solo album from American singer-songwriter Tom Petty. Produced by Jeff Lynne, the leader of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), who also undertook the production of another of their albums “Full Moon”. The recording was made in a study of Malibu in California with Tom Petty playing most instruments. Mike Campbell has also played guitar, and Lynne some keyboards, bass and vocals.

Highway Companion is more or less an album that tells you exactly what you’re going to get: Tom Petty. Driving music. Metaphors about the open road with kickin’ licks. If that’s your bag, then Highway Companion is a breezy and fun listen that deserves to find its way on your playlist the next time you venture down the long and lonesome road home.

The musician has decided to return to Florida’s music scene without his usual band “The Heartbreakers” to present an album of rock songs and muscular as “Square One”, “Down south”, “The Golden Rose” or “Big Weekend.”

The first single taken from the album is Saving Grace.
